EcoFlow has launched a new 8kWh residential battery and entered commercial and industrial energy storage with its Alps system, a dual announcement that matters for installers because higher per-module capacity and a new C&I product line let one supplier serve both growing home electrification demand and larger business storage projects.

EcoFlow is a global energy technology company founded in 2017, with operational headquarters in Seattle, Düsseldorf, Tokyo and Birmingham, UK, serving more than 6 million users across 140 markets.

The 8kWh battery lets installers reach higher-capacity residential systems with fewer modules, addressing growing loads from EVs, heat pumps and electric heating. Alps, its C&I entry, offers 60kWh to 261kWh of storage across modular 20kWh battery packs, with a DC-coupled design EcoFlow says improves conversion efficiency by more than 2%.

Craig Bilboe, head of residential UK at EcoFlow, said: "Customers want more capacity, greater flexibility, and smarter control, but installers also need systems that remain practical to specify and install." He added that Alps represents an exciting new chapter for EcoFlow as the company extends its residential experience into C&I with a modular platform capable of supporting much larger energy requirements.

The launch lands in a market moving from niche to mainstream: UK residential battery storage is projected to grow from £3.4 billion in 2025 to £11.8 billion by 2031, with monthly installations rising from dozens in 2022 to more than 1,000 by 2024.

That growth trajectory explains the timing of EcoFlow's C&I expansion: a manufacturer with an established residential installer base is better placed to cross-sell into commercial projects than a new entrant building both channels from scratch.

For the sector, a residential-first storage brand moving into C&I signals installers increasingly expect one supplier relationship to cover both domestic and business-scale energy storage, rather than sourcing separately by project size.
