Construction has started on the Sanquhar II Community Wind Farm in southern Scotland, set to become the UK’s fourth largest onshore project. The 44-turbine farm will generate enough electricity for 335,000 homes and offset around 540,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually.

The £800m project, nearly a decade in planning, creates hundreds of construction jobs—with almost half sourced locally—and brings long-term economic benefits to the region. Reform of national energy pricing has provided stability and confidence, supporting further investment in renewables and infrastructure.
