Bord Gáis Energy has struck a landmark agreement with Strategic Power Projects to secure 350 MW of solar capacity from four large-scale farms in Tipperary, Clare and Offaly. Backed by the Renewable Energy Support Scheme, the projects will cut Ireland’s carbon emissions by 200,000 tonnes a year and help drive the country towards 1.76 GW of solar capacity by 2025. The deal also locks in long-term supply, providing stability in an increasingly competitive renewables market.
