HS Renewables, a Northern Ireland-based renewable energy installer, is expanding across Ireland as demand increases for solar, battery storage and heat pump systems, strengthening links between construction activity and clean energy infrastructure deployment.
News Letter reported that HS Renewables, based in Ardmore and founded in 2021 by Shea Higgins, is scaling operations following support from the Go Succeed business support service. The company delivers solar PV systems, battery storage, heat pumps and insulation solutions across domestic, commercial and agricultural sectors.
Founder Shea Higgins, a former automation engineer, said: “I was travelling constantly and felt like I had no control over my own destiny. I could see the potential in renewables, particularly solar, and knew that was the direction I wanted to go in. That’s what led me to set up HS Renewables.”
The business has evolved from electrical and solar installations into a broader renewable energy provider, adding heat pumps and heat recovery systems to its offering.
HS Renewables is now focusing on growth in the commercial sector, where larger project scales offer longer-term opportunities. It is also reporting increased demand from the Republic of Ireland, particularly in larger residential developments.
Shea Higgins said: “We’re seeing strong demand, particularly from the south, where there are a lot of large-scale builds.”
Rising energy prices continue to influence adoption of renewable technologies across both domestic and commercial customers, accelerating interest in energy efficiency and long-term cost reduction.
Shea Higgins said: “When energy prices go up, we always see an increase in enquiries. People who might have considered it before are now coming back and are ready to move forward because they can see the long-term savings.”
