Portuguese commercial and industrial renewable energy specialist Greenvolt Next has completed a 2.2 MWp ground-mounted solar farm at the Astellas Damastown pharmaceutical facility in Dublin, delivering the full project from concept to commissioning in just four months. The installation features 3,192 solar panels and five inverters, supplying 27 per cent of the site's annual electricity needs and reducing Scope 2 CO2 emissions by 310 tonnes per year.
Irish Tech News reported that Greenvolt Next managed every stage of the project, from design through to installation and commissioning, and will continue to support the Astellas Dublin site with ongoing maintenance and performance reviews. The system has been designed to accommodate additional inverters and future battery energy storage integration, allowing the facility to scale its renewable capacity as operational needs evolve.
Gino Gautier, global CEO DG of the Greenvolt Group, said the project demonstrates how efficiently on-site solutions can be delivered at this level, and that the ability to combine speed with high-quality execution is increasingly important for organisations seeking energy cost reduction and improved pricing predictability in a context of continued market uncertainty.
Leon Burns, capital projects lead at Astellas Ireland, said Greenvolt Next delivered a solar farm in just four months that boosts sustainability credentials, offers scalability, and is already making a tangible difference to business operations.
Greenvolt Next operates across 12 European markets and holds an operational portfolio of over 405 MW, with a further 1 GW of signed capacity. In Ireland, the company is targeting delivery of 1 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, which includes the 1.7 MW solar carport currently under construction at Cork Airport.
