Global collagen casing producer Devro is investing £2.9 million in its Moodiesburn facility in North Lanarkshire to slash emissions and improve productivity. Backed by a £1 million grant from Scottish Enterprise, the upgrade will introduce advanced heat pump technology, replacing reliance on gas-fired boilers and enabling the site to cut CO₂ emissions by 2,000 tonnes annually.

The project will make Moodiesburn one of Devro’s most energy-efficient plants and a cornerstone for its net zero 2045 target. As part of Germany’s SARIA Group, Devro is pioneering Scotland’s first 105°C high-temperature heat pump, reinforcing the country's clean tech leadership.
