Bord Gáis Energy doubles down on solar with Ireland’s largest PPA portfolio
Bord Gáis Energy is making its boldest move yet toward a greener energy mix, signing long-term Power Purchase Agreements totalling over 629 MW of new renewable capacity. These deals—spanning solar and wind—secure the company’s position as Ireland’s largest solar power off-taker under the national Renewable Electricity Support Scheme.
This push more than doubles its renewable portfolio, feeding nearly 1 TWh of clean energy into the grid annually—enough to power a quarter of a million homes. It’s a strategic acceleration toward its goal of net zero by 2040, while also supporting customers in their own decarbonisation efforts.
With projects already energising and more on the way by 2028, Bord Gáis Energy is strengthening its influence not just in energy supply, but in shaping Ireland’s green future.
