Ireland’s Activ8 Energies has acquired Burnley-based Low Carbon Energy to fast-track its expansion in the UK renewables market. The move comes on the heels of a £3m solar project at Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport, which will supply a quarter of the site’s electricity when it goes live next month.

Backed by SSE Airtricity, Activ8 aims to double turnover and installed capacity in the coming years, positioning itself as the UK’s leading commercial and industrial renewable energy provider. LCE, founded in 2009, has already delivered more than 60MW of solar capacity across 300 sites nationwide.
